HOW WE SELECT OUR MERCHANDISE

Our collection is hand-selected with an excellent eye for taste and craftsmanship. Through our experience and knowledge, bogart, bremmer & bradley Antiques chooses only authentic merchandise of the highest quality.

This eye for quality didn't happen over night. Back in 1975, we mostly carried local items. It wasn't until 1978 during our first buying road-trip to New England--and many places in between--we widened our horizons. Once we went to the east coast, the availability of older quality antiques increased our inventory one hundred fold; this increase in inventory made it possible for us to offer our customers a much wider selection. There is richer history back east and it's not uncommon for a particular piece, there, to be handed down through many more generations than is possible here in Washington.

Our trips would last anywhere from 14 to 28 days. We attended dealer auctions. We also attended antique shows and flea markets in malls, at farms, in barns and in fields. We visited dozens of wholesale and retail shops and along the way we met people from all over the world. We found that one of the best ways to learn about antiques is to listen to people talk.

We also learned from other dealers. Most dealers have a particular expertise in a specialty area--say kerosene lighting fixtures or depression glass. And these dealers often know the seller's story--where the piece is from, when it was made, who made it and if it was mass-produced or one-of-a-kind.
